"So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, "Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, 'What do you these stones mean?' tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever."
-----Joshua 4:4-7
Do you have stones like this in your life? Reminders of when God delivered, protected, provided or even worked in a supernatural way? A few books later we will see Samuel doing a similar thing and calling the stones his 'Ebenezer'. A visual reminder that the Lord has brought him thus far.
I think it is important to acknowledge moments like this because the serve as life mile markers that catapult us into some of the greatest adventures we have ever been on. They can sustain you through dark chapters and encourage you in the difficult ones.
Take some time today and think about times in your life that serve as memorials of God great work in your life and thank Him for His incredible gift.
