Storehouses

I have been spending some time in the book of Malachi. (In case you don't know where it is, it's hidden as the last book of the Old Testament.) God is speaking to a nation of people who have taken Him for granted. The priests are short changing Him on offerings, the people are unfaithful to Him in their devotion to Him. This causes big issues when you are a perfect God and the ones that you cherish above all creation are acting so foolishly. (It makes me wonder if we are really so different from the Bible people).

In chapter 3, as God is confronting them in their attempts to rob Him, He calls them out. He essentially tells them to put His supply to the test. He says:

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. TEST ME IN THIS," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring you crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the Lord Almighty. "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land, says the Lord Almighty.
---vs. 10-12

This is one the things I love the most about my Heavenly Father, because He knows there is nothing greater than Him, He calls us to test Him in some incredible ways.

This causes me to think about some of the ways I am short-changing God in my walk with Him. My time...my resources...my desires...my choices.

Today, I will make the choice to see just how incredible my Heavenly Father can be. You should too.

Heart and Soul,
